Artist Proposals
We're now accepting proposals from artists who are interested in our Artist-In-Residence program or who just want to put something together in the space.
The Artist-in-Residence program works like this...
Because we're broke, Yautepec provides zero production budget. HOWEVER, we give you 1) a place to live, 2) a place to work, 3) pretty damn good publicity, AND 4) use of the space for pretty much any kind of fund-raising endeavor you can imagine. We see this as an intrinsic part of the proposal, so obviously the more creative you get with your fund-raising ideas, the more we'll probably like it. Or whatever, if you've got a sponsor and a great idea for a project, we might be into that too.
The idea is that the money you earn from your fund-raising activities at Yautepec will then go toward the costs to produce whatever it is you want to do at Yautepec for your official "end-of-residence" show. If there's any money left over from your fund-raising, in most cases you can keep it. Unless you want to give it to us or something.
We do however split the sales of the work in your final show 50/50 and that's hopefully how we keep this ship afloat. Mind you, this doesn't necessarily mean that we're looking for commercial work. If your idea is really good and also really unsellable, we can figure out a different arrangement.
As for those of you who don't want to live at Yautepec and just want to make use of a really awesome space, tell us what you wanna do and we'll definitely consider it.
Finally, proposals in either English or Español work for us. Ah, and all of these things mentioned above are subject to change if they end up being really stupid ideas.
